Steve is a co-founder of Appconomy and principal at Powershift Group. He is an entrepreneur, co-founder and vice president of Appconomy, Inc. and author of several books and numerous articles on information technology. He was a founding shareholder of BSG Corporation, which was acquired by Per Se Technologies (formerly known as Medaphis) in a 1996 deal valued at $330 million. Per Se was later acquired by McKesson Corporation. In 1997, Guengerich became CEO of Easter Seals of Central Texas. In 1999, he co-founded Knowbility, Inc., and served as chairman of the board of directors. Guengerich is a 1998 recipient of the Austin Under 40 awards, alongside other celebrity Austin recipients from the inaugural year that included Lance Armstrong, Michael Dell, and Mike Judge. Guengerich is co-author of several books on information technology topics, including Client/Server Computing, Rightsizing Information Systems, and Building the Corporate Intranet.
As part of his co-founder role at Appconomy, Steve led the go-to-market activities for the company, living in Shanghai and standing up its operations in China, including recruiting key hires, contractors, and agencies, user and market research, branding, positioning, customer acquisition, PR, strategic partnerships and more. Finally, complementing his for-profit work, Steve has an extensive background in community, civic and other public sector initiatives, having served on multiple board of directors & governors. He is an adjunct professor in the Digital MBA program at St Edwards where he has taught New Venture Creation and Marketing and Branding.
