We start day two in our series spotlighting the top ten reasons you should be a part of SXSW V2V 2014 with Number 8: Exciting Ecosystem. If you look past the glitter and excitement of the Las Vegas Strip you will see an equally vibrant and thriving local tech and entrepreneur scene that has caught the attention of national and international media.
The latest push in growth, lead by Tony Hsieh’s Downtown Project, is steadily gaining momentum, transforming part of Downtown Las Vegas into the living embodiment of community engagement. In his Opening Keynote for SXSW V2V in 2013, Tony Hsieh outlined his vision for Downtown Las Vegas, and it is exciting to see that vision come even more into focus in 2014. We were walking down East Fremont right before our SXSW Interactive Festival and SXSW V2V Las Vegas Community Meetup just last week, marveling at the latest developments taking shape. If you get the chance, check out the newly opened Container Park, a complex of shops, restaurants, and an impressive children’s play-scape.
In our last visit to Las Vegas we also had the opportunity to visit possibly the coolest place on the planet, the Switch SuperNAP, and its equally cool InNEVation Center, which offers co-working space to startups, hosts events like Startup Weekend and LaunchUp Las Vegas, and has offices for the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, just to name a few. I’ll let the links speak for themselves here, but you can bet that we will be going back to learn more about everything they are doing for the Las Vegas startup community.
Austin is such a huge part of what makes SXSW so special, and Las Vegas has become as equally important to SXSW V2V. In 2013 we were able to highlight these local communities with our daytime programming and a host of evening activities. For 2014 we will expand that involvement with some other special activities -- stay tuned later for details -- and the return of our Monday Night Downtown, where we move all the action just North of the Strip to East Fremont for parties, mixers, movies, music and all the networking you can manage.
To learn more about these communities first hand register to attend SXSW V2V 2014. Save over 60% off the walk-up rate by signing up by this Friday, January 31.
